Legal changes favoring the well-being of sentient beings is among the best possible outcomes for any animal advocacy campaign. But how can high-impact legal activism be effectively squared with the notorious complexity of law? Seeking to identify the most effective qualities of legal activism, our speakers will highlight important distinctions between direct legal work versus political initiatives, the difference between common and civil law, and more. Finally, our panel will attempt to sketch out an actionable roadmap for legal activism, including how to attain basic rights for nonhuman animals.
